As examples, brief descriptions of recent grants within the foundation's area of special emphasis are set forth below:

ABYSSINIAN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
New York, NY
$20,000 for rehabilitation materials for 25 transitional apartments for women with families to be installed by the agency’s own “Youthbuild” work force.

ASIAN TASK FORCE AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Boston, MA
$25,000 to support renovation of the kitchen in its emergency shelter which serves up to five families at a time.

BOWERY RESIDENTS’ COMMITTEE
New York, NY
$50,000 (over two years) for predevelopment costs to create 64 housing units for formerly homeless or at risk individuals.

DWA FANM
Brooklyn, NY
$20,000 to add ten new scattered site apartments for transitional housing for Creole and French-speaking Caribbean and African survivors of domestic violence.

HOPE HOUSE
Boston, MA
$50,000 to help finish construction on new facility for treatment and housing of 22 formerly homeless and recovering alcoholics.

JAMAICA PLAIN NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
Jamaica Plain, MA
$40,000 to support pre-construction activities in connection with the development of 63 affordable units for homeless and low income families and individuals.

JOVENES 24 HRS AD INC.
Queens, NY
$22,500 for renovating a two-family home to accommodate 28 recovering Spanish speaking alcoholics.

KIT CLARK SENIOR SERVICES
Dorchester, MA
$10,000 to replace furniture at a five apartment congregate living facility.

NEW DESTINY HOUSING CORPORATION
Bronx, NY
$50,000 to help fill a capital funding gap to permit construction to begin on 38 units of permanent affordable housing for low income domestic violence survivors leaving the homeless shelter system and low income households from the community.

PROJECT PLACE
Boston, MA
$60,000 (over two years) for new facility including 14 supportive studio apartments.

SETTLEMENT HOUSING FUND, INC.
New York, NY
$30,000 to help fund furniture and necessary household equipment for six of 23 apartments in a building under construction in Manhattan which will house single parents coming from homeless shelters.

YWCA BOSTON Boston, MA
$45,000 to help fund repairs mandated for safety reasons at YWCA Boston’s 200 room Berkeley residence.
